Sawasdee! Welcome to Thailand Musings!

Thailand Musings I first went to Thailand in 1997 and immediately fell in love with the country. Thailand at that time to me was mysterious and exotic, full of potentials and pitfalls. Fast forward to 2010 and here I am after 13 years and many trips to the LOS sharing, with the help of my Thai wife Golf, my experiences and knowledge with you here at Thailand Musings. Thailand may have lost some mystery for me, but it is still exotic and wonderful and I will always remember that first feeling when I stepped out into the Bangkok smog for the first time. I have yet to learn everything about Thailand and thankfully for all of us Golf is here to correct me when I err.

Thailand Musings 2.0

New

Hi everyone and welcome to the new design of Thailand Musings! I know my posts have dropped off in the past two weeks and it has been due to all the work I have been putting into this new design. And now finally it’s done! I have been so nervous and excited waiting to unveil this to everyone. Hope you like it, I guess it’s Thailand Musings 2.0.

First I need to send some thanks to those primarily responsible. That is ATF from Digital Point forums who did the new logo for the site. He did a great job and the price wasn’t bad either, so if you’re looking for a logo or some design work see this thread at DP and give him a try. I also want to thank the Cowboy Mom at Blogging With Cents. She also had a redesign done recently by ATF and that’s how I learned about him. And exactly when I needed a good cheap designer too. I love karma!

As you can see Thailand Musings now looks totally different. I love the new design because I think it highlights more of the great content on the homepage much better than the previous design. I also love the fact that it makes much greater use of images, both pictures and video. And it looks much cleaner to me. I think it is much easier to scan and find something that interests you as readers. Of course my challenge will be to keep putting out great content so the headlines change frequently.

You’ll also notice that I’ve done away with the Google AdSense which I felt was a bit obtrusive. I replaced it with a great little widget called Scratchback that you can find in my sidebar. Basically it is like a tip jar. For a small tip you can have your site featured in my Scratchback widget. It’s a great way to promote your own site and all tips go to the “Send Golf and Steve back to Thailand” fund. So please tip often and generously :>)

And now for the most important part of the change. What do you, my readers, think of the new look for Thailand Musings? Do you love it as much as me or do you hate it? Do you think I should have kept the old theme? Let me know in the comments how you feel about the new design and why you’re glad I changed or why you think I should have kept it the same. If you have any ideas for changes I am certainly open to your feedback in that regard as well. The discussion is now in your hands so don’t be shy, let me know what you think!
