Hilton Celebrates Songkran in Thailand
Here’s a bit of a plug for the Hilton chain of hotels, but if you’re going to be in Thailand over Songkran you might want to consider pampering yourself a bit. Hilton’s are great hotels and the one’s in Thailand are no exception, but they are 50% cheaper than in the U.S. or the U.K. What better chance to pamper yourself a bit and save some money in the bargain.
Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year’s celebration, also known as the “Water Festival”, and one of the main activities of the festivities is throwing water at each other. Thai people believe that water, as a symbol of cleansing and renewal, will wash away bad luck. Plus, it’s great fun and helps keep you cool during this hottest past of the year in Thailand.
As Thailand gears up for the world’s biggest water fight, the festival of Songkran, Hilton hotels in Thailand are providing a ‘Songkran Survival Kit’ to help guests dodge a drenching. While I know how much fun it can be to participate in the water throwing, sometimes you want to stay dry and the “Songkran Survival Kit” sounds perfect for these times.
Hilton’s “Songkran Survival Kit” provides the tools to enjoy Songkran without getting soaked and includes a water pistol, so you can still soak others, and an exclusive Hilton plastic poncho to every guest who stays a minimum of 2 nights with Hilton between April 11th-16th.
During this time guests will also be treated to a traditional water welcome on arrival at their hotel. Prices start from THB 5,000++.
Songkran is an ideal time to visit Thailand for families and they are able to join in special fun-filled water rituals throughout the country. Children particularly enjoy the festival’s water fights and are actively encouraged to join in by the locals.
Hilton’s three Thailand hotels are offering special packages throughout the month of April. Millennium Hilton Bangkok , Hilton Hua Hin Resort & Spa and Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa are all offering a “Songkran Water Package” which includes a free room upgrade, complimentary domestic bottled water, special discount 20% on spa treatments and one Hilton umbrella.
